Inter-High is over and the heat is about to set in. Sakamichi is working hard with his friends Imaizumi and Naruko to keep the Sohoku team in good shape. His older brothers (third-years) Kinjou, Makishima, and Tadokoro are graduating soon, so the responsibility now falls on these kids.
Suddenly, the team receives a call from the Kumamoto Fire Country Mountain Race. This race is open only to those who excelled in Inter-High. Captain Kinjou decides that his old Inter-High team will participate in the race and show how much power Sohoku has.
