The story of Kimi ni Todoke revolves around Sawako Kuronuma, whom everyone mistakes for “Sadako” (the character from the horror film ‘The Ring’) because of her timid appearance and thinks she might be a witch. However, in reality, Sawako is a very innocent and timid girl who just wants to make friends like ordinary children. Then, Kazehaya, the most popular and smiling boy in her class, enters her life. Sawako falls in love with his friendly nature from the first sight.

One day, when Kazehaya organizes a game for the entire class, Sawako sees it as a good opportunity to get closer. This leads her to befriend two girls, Ayane and Chizuru. Sawako feels that meeting Kazehaya has completely changed her life, but she doesn’t realize that her innocence has also changed Kazehaya’s heart.
