After turning off four alarms and falling asleep, Narumi Momose wakes up in a bad way on her first day at her new office and is late. Rushing to catch her train, she promises herself that she won’t let anyone at her new office know her dark secret: that she’s a confirmed otaku and fujoshi. But her plan goes awry on the very first day when her old school friend, Hirotaka Nifuji, unexpectedly shows up.

Narumi invites him for drinks after work to keep her secret, but Hirotaka suddenly asks her about the next anime event in front of everyone and the whole thing is out. Luckily, two people present there, Hanako and Tarou, turn out to be otaku themselves. That night, when Narumi cries that her ex-boyfriend broke up with her because she’s otaku, Hirotaka tells her she should date an otaku, meaning she’s straight. He promises to be there for her at all times and help her with the game. Narumi immediately agrees and from here begins their strange yet sweet love story.
