In 1374, during the conflict between the Northern and Southern Courts, the Shogun of the Northern Court, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, was becoming increasingly powerful. During this time, Oniyasha, the son of Kanami, the head of the surugaku performers, was consumed by a single thought: Why do people dance? His mind remained blank until he witnessed a truly original and excellent dance.
