Seventeen-year-old Jirou can secretly talk to animals, and he trains in ninja combat with his granddad. His quiet life ends when he saves a stray black cat named Ragou, who turns out to be a powerful demon spirit. A hostile monster attacks them, leaving Jirou fatally wounded. To save him, Ragou shares his energy, reviving Jirou and giving him insane supernatural powers. A secret government agent spots his talent and invites him to join "Black Torch"—a special squad hunting rogue monsters.
