Tomorou Tenma possesses a very dangerous and powerful “e-Pulse”—an energy derived from the human mind and emotions that powers AI devices called “Sapotama.” Every small and big task in the world depends on these AIs, but Tomorou’s energy is so overwhelming that these devices begin to malfunction as soon as they come near him. One night, a strange creature called “Gekkoumon” emerges from his device and insists on consuming his energy.
It turns out that Gekkoumon is actually a Digimon created by a malfunction of AI devices and survives on human energy. Some ferocious Digimon drain humans of their energy, putting them into a coma known as “Cold Heart.” When Tomorou’s older brother, Asuka, falls victim to this disease, Tomorou vows revenge. He meets a bounty hunter group called “Glowing Dawn” who hunt these rogue Digimon. Their leader, Kyo, tells him that there’s still a way to cure his brother. Despite not wanting to, Tomoru joins hands with those strangers because he knows that he will never be able to save his brother alone.
