In a wealthy town where people throw away perfectly good stuff without a second thought, a slum kid named Rudo finds absolute treasure in their trash. His adoptive father, Regto, constantly warns him to stay away, but Rudo just can't stop hunting for reusable junk before it gets dumped into the Pit—a massive, bottomless disposal zone where criminals are thrown, never to be seen again.
But everything goes wrong when a mysterious killer murders Regto. Rudo gets framed for the crime and is immediately tossed straight into the Pit. Instead of dying, he wakes up in a wasteland filled with giant monsters literally made out of garbage. Just as the toxic air and these "Trash Beasts" are about to finish him off, a guy named Enjin saves his life. Enjin is part of a group called the Cleaners, who use special weapons called Vital Instruments to fight these monsters. After accidentally unlocking his own Vital Instrument, Rudo teams up with them, desperate to find a way out of the Pit and track down his father's real killer.
