Coco, the daughter of a dressmaker, has always been fascinated by magicians and their magical world. Although magicians keep their labor and methods hidden from the world, Coco gets a golden opportunity when she witnesses a master magician, Qifrey, practicing magic. This is when she discovers a shocking truth: her favorite childhood picture book was actually a hidden magic book! In her excitement, Coco tries some spells, but a mistake wreaks havoc on her home. Qifrey saves her just in time and decides to teach Coco magic. Qifrey believes that through Coco he can gain access to the "Brimmed Caps"—a dangerous and sinister group of wizards who are spreading the forbidden magic of human body-transforming.
